A bus shelter for the Children's Garden

What a surprise! The Grosbreuil town council has given us a bus shelter! A crazy idea? Not really!

It all started with Rose-Marie and her eagle eye. Passing by the Lavandières play area car park, she spotted a lonely bus shelter, abandoned by her brother, who had already made off towards the new school car park. It didn't take her long to realise that she should get it back. After all, anything that's lying around will come in handy!

That's how the idea of installing this noble shelter at the bottom of the Grosbreuil composting platform came about. Some people thought it was a secret plan to anticipate a future road bypass passing behind the platform... but no, nothing like that! It's simply a matter of creating a storage space for our budding young gardeners in the village. And we're not going to lie: having a shelter so you don't have to run after your tools in the rain is a real luxury!

A site worthy of major works

On 12 March, we got down to business by preparing the formwork for the concrete slab. On 19 March, the technical staff from the town hall were on hand to deliver gravel to stabilise the ground. Suffice to say, we had our hands full... and our shoes!

On 22 March, we flexed our muscles and set about concreting the site. We gave it our all. Then came the time for drying, when we could (finally) take a breather... for a bit. Because on 31 March, it was back to the drawing board: dismantling the bus shelter and re-installing it on the platform. Mission accomplished, with sweat and good humour!

An inauguration in sight

To make it a real storage space, we're adding doors. And of course, we'll be celebrating this great acquisition with an inauguration, under Rose-Marie's proud and laughing eye.
But be careful, Rose-Marie... ideas like this are nice, but we're going to end up on our kneecaps!

A huge thank you to all those who got involved.

Yes, it was a lot of work, but it was great to see that together,
we're capable of working wonders

⚠️ Windrow Alert

Is the windrow not heating up? The most likely cause is a lack of carbon. Wood chips are essential to balance the nitrogen-rich food scraps. Please always respect:1 part caddy waste  +  3 parts wood chips
