💚 Key players in composting in Grosbreuil
In Grosbreuil, volunteers at the community composting platform play a central and indispensable role in the success of our environmental project. They are the driving force behind the Compostons ensemble à Grosbreuil association, passionately committed to bringing this place of exchange, sharing and concrete action to life.
🙌 An essential and varied role
Volunteers devote their time and energy to ensuring the smooth running of the composting platform, in particular:
- welcome residents and their organic waste,
- careful sorting of inputs,
- monitoring humidity and temperature for optimal decomposition,
- carefully mixing the compost,
- redistribution of mature compost to residents to enrich their gardens.
But their role goes beyond practical matters: they are also true ambassadors for composting. They raise awareness, offer advice and encourage everyone to reduce their waste and adopt responsible practices for a healthier environment.
🌿 A place for meeting and exchange
Beyond technical actions, the involvement of volunteers creates a warm and friendly atmosphere during office hours. Thanks to them, the platform becomes a real living space, conducive to meetings, discussions and mutual assistance between residents around shared ecological practices.
📋 Organisation at the service of action
In order to carry out all activities, volunteers divide up roles according to their skills and preferences. Among the tasks:
- team for compost turning,
- member reception every Wednesday and Saturday
- temperature measurement and recording of inputs,
- support for school trips focusing on composting,
- administrative management, treasury, communication,
- supply of compost bins (in conjunction with the Community of Municipalities),
- organisation of the Plant Swap and Seed Swap,
- organising a variety of activities.
📅 Site maintenance and upkeep
Volunteers also provide regular on-call services:
- welcoming members and recording contributions,
- gradual progress of the biocomposter,
- tarpaulin to protect windrows,
- monitors the shredded material stocks,
- periodic distribution of mature compost.
- And, of course, they participate in the overall maintenance of the platform: clearing brush, pruning, mowing, repairing facilities, etc.
🏫 Educational activities
The volunteers do not just manage the platform: they also welcome school classes to teach children, from an early age, about the principles of composting, soil life and the organic waste cycle.
🤗 Thank you to our volunteers!
🙏 A big thank you to all those who give their time, without whom none of this would be possible. Their commitment makes a real difference to our community, to the environment and to all the residents who are involved in this collective effort.
