🍇 Legendary banquet in Grue – 13 September, the Picnix 🍷
On Saturday 13 September, history will record that a horde of die-hard Grosbreuillois invaded the peaceful village of Grue, at the gateway to Green Venice.
But the people of Grue weren't born yesterday: Jocelyne and Jean-Pierre, alias Gruesix and Longératrix, had thought of everything!
In the spacious barn adjoining their farmhouse, tastefully refurbished by themselves, they had set up the banquet, brought out the magic potion (the famous Trouspinetix!) and prepared several tables, one of which was set to host no fewer than 13 cakes for 25 hungry warriors.
⚔️ The heroes of the day
- Annickstérix the Chief (Annick): undisputed leader, known for ruling her village with an iron fist (in a compost glove).
- Chantorix and Discretella (Patrick and Françoise) : He, a warrior with a lofty voice and an easy song; she, all discretion and a knowing smile. Fortunately, on this particular day, he didn't sing a chorus - so we spared the strings and the eardrums!
- Webix and Citronnella (Eric and Françoise) : He, keeper of the website and the association's accounts; she, priestess of the lemon pie that brought everyone to their knees.
- Compostix and Plateformella (Katia and Jean-Louis) : always on duty at the composting platform, even when no enemy is in sight.
- Grosbreuilix (Didier) : Born in the village of Grosbreuil, he knows every dolmen, every hedge and every local legend.
- Chaisefix and Agronomella (Laurent and Catherine) : came armed with their chairs to avoid ending up sitting on a menhir.
- Trouspinettix and Sourirella (Philippe and Lydie) : he, the village's official distiller (with a personal reservation); she, the ambassador of simple pleasures.
- Rosémarix (Rose-Marie) : discreet but always ready with a smile or a kind word.
- Belotix and Atoutella (Jean-Luc and Michèle) : all-round champions of the belote tournament, capable of winning even with a bad deal.
- Anglix and Teaella (Sue and Jamie) : from the other side of the Channel, but now Grosbreuillois at heart. Their accents add an exotic charm to the banquet.
- Dernierix (Jean-Claude) : arrived late due to a lack of space on the Chaisefix and Agronomella float. But he still found a chair!
- Joséphix and Michélix : who joined Chantorix and Discretella for the banquet.
- Trouspinettorix and Guylaix (Jean-Marcel and Guylaine) : makers of an excellent Trouspinette, faithful allies of Trouspinettix and Longératrix.
And of course, the heroes of the day:
Gruesix and Longératrix (Jean-Pierre and Jocelyne)
who opened the doors of their estates and orchestrated this anthology picnic.
📜 The epic unfolding
The invaders ransacked the table (respecting the rules of decorum), gobbled up the food and drank the magic potion down to the last drop.
Only then, full and happy, did they divide into two camps:
- The champions gathered around the belote table, which had been transformed into a strategic combat arena,
- While one squad set off on a digestive stroll in search of Romans... only to find the sun shining brightly.
🌞 Morality
Thanks to Gruesix and Longeratrix, the day was victorious, the tribe was satiated, and the Romans can rest easy... until the next invasion!
